Why We Weed by Hand
Many general maintenance contractors simply strim weeds flat. While it appears tidy for a few days, the root system remains undamaged and quickly pushes up denser growth. Strimming leaves the underlying issue untouched.
Hand-weeding extracts the active taproot. Persistent weeds like dandelions, docks, thistles, and bindweed only stay gone when the root crown is completely removed. On recurring problem beds, we also advise on professional mulching: a dense bark layer blocks sunlight from airborne seeds, enriches soil moisture, and reduces weeding requirements dramatically.

Do you use weedkiller?
Only where appropriate—primarily on gravel driveways and access paths. In flowerbeds and planting borders, our team weeds by hand to remove root systems completely without endangering adjoining plants. Any treatments used are pet-safe and discussed with you beforehand.
Why do weeds keep returning?
Usually because they have been strimmed or pulled only at the surface level, leaving deep taproots intact. Dandelions, docks and bindweed all regenerate rapidly from root fragments. We hand-weed with roots removed, and can apply organic bark mulches to suppress future weed germination.
